Andy Card, the former Chief of Staff for President George W. Bush, may be coming to Massachusetts Wednesday night to explore a run for the state's vacant U.S. Senate seat.
Sources tell WBZ's Karen Anderson that Card may be stopping by the state Republican Committee meeting in Newton this evening.
Earlier this month he told WBZ he is considering a run for the Senate.
Card, a Republican who served under President Reagan and both Presidents Bush, says he has received several calls and emails from friends urging him to run.
Card lives in McLean, Virginia but he owns a home in Holbrook, where he grew up.
He has the national name recognition with the GOP that could help him raise a large amount of money in a short period of time for the special election.
So far, the only Republican to officially declare his candidacy is Canton selectman Bob Burr.
State senator Scott Brown is also exploring a run.
Convenience store magnate Christy Mihos has also hinted he may give up his bid for governor and run in the Senate race instead.
