Make no mistake about it, Angel Flight serves a critical need in the New England community. They are there when a family needs them. When someone is sick, they will fly them where need to go free of charge.
Angel Flight Northeast is a volunteer non-profit organization based in North Andover, Massachusetts.
Since the spring of 1996, they have handled thousands of flight requests and have flown millions of miles to hospitals all over the globe. They have over 1,200 volunteer pilots who provide transportation free of charge to patients who could not afford to fly to certain hospitals to access critical medical care.
They cover an area from Maine to Florida and as far west as Minnesota.
Angel flight released a statement late on Tuesday about the tragic crash in Easton. "We at Angle Flight are deeply saddened by this news and our sympathies go out to the families of those involved
In the past 12 years, Angel Flight NE has safely flown more than 53,000 children and adults to medical care on 30,000 flights covering more than 7.6 million miles. We at Angel Flight are deeply saddened by this news and our sympathies go out to the families of those involved."
Angel Flight also plays a critical role when it comes to transporting blood and human organs for people waiting for transplants. Half of all Angel Flights are for children suffering from severe burns or cancer.
