2 Bodies Found In New Bedford Apartment

NEW BEDFORD (WBZ) ― Two bodies were found in a New Bedford apartment Tuesday afternoon.

Officials say the bodies of a man and a woman were found in an apartment on Independent Street after the building's landlord called police to report a strong smell of natural gas.

Police are investigating the deaths, and they are treating the apartment as a crime scene.
Police Lt. Jeffrey Silva said authorities are trying to determine if the deaths were accidental, but for now they were being labeled as suspicious.

The identities of the victims were not immediately known.
