Police in North Attleborough are investigating the discovery a body wrapped in a rug and left in vacant lot where 10 homes are planned.
The body, described by authorities only as a white man, was discovered at about 2:30 p.m. on Sunday by a neighbor who was on the property cutting evergreen branches for use in Christmas decorations.
Police Chief Michael Gould Sr. tells The Sun Chronicle of Attleboro the woman found the body while walking in a field. An autopsy is scheduled to determine the cause of death.
Property owner Fred Bottomley said the woman first noticed the rug on Friday, but did not know a body was inside. He says she had permission to be on the lot.
