Boston police say a man was pistol-whipped in an cab dispatcher's office Monday morning and robbed of a "substantial amount of money."
Investigators say two armed men were involved in the attack at the Boston Cab Association on Kilmarnock Street in the Fenway just before 10 a.m.
The men ran out and the victim called for help.
According to
Boston Police, the men stole a white Honda and then abandoned it on Ipswich Street.
They then pulled over a taxi, pointed a gun to the cabbie's head and ordered him to drive.
Officers caught up to the cab and stopped it on Boylston Street.
One suspect was captured, but the other ran off and is still on the loose.
Police recovered the cash and the two guns used in the robbery.
The victim was taken to Brigham and Women's Hospital for treatment.
The second suspect is described as:
- 5 feet 10 inches tall
- Medium to dark skin
- In his 30's
- Wearing a red cap, gray hoodie, dark blue pants and a T-shirt.
Police say the men knew when to target the dispatch office, because it was the time of week when drivers turned in their cash from the weekend.
Officers would not say specifically how much money was stolen, only saying it was "a lot."
