A Boston deputy fire chief is accused of posing as a state trooper and raping a woman at gunpoint last month, Boston Fire Department officials said.
Peter Pearson, 51, of East Bridgewater will be arraigned in Brockton District Court on Wednesday. He is charged with aggravated rape, assault with a dangerous weapon, impersonating a police officer and kidnapping.
Spokesman for the Boston Fire Department, Steve MacDonald, said Pearson has been placed on leave without pay until after his arraignment Wednesday, at which time, he will be placed on paid administrative leave.
Police arrested Pearson on Tuesday after the woman he allegedly raped saw him again and was able to identify him to authorities.
MacDonald said while Peason is on paid leave, he will be responsible for keeping the department informed of the court proceedings.
In addition to Pearson's rape allegations, the Boston Fire Department is also in the spotlight as a bodybuilding firefighter fights for his job back after he declared permanent disability while competing in a body building competition.

Arroyo To Attend Hearing To Fight For JobMacDonald defended the fire department by saying the allegations against Pearson and Albert Arroyo are not relective of the Boston Fire Department as a whole.
"The bottom line is, if someone calls 911 asking the fire department to respond we will have trucks there within four minutes, and they will be there to help in any way they can," MacDonald said. "That's what the fire department is. It's not the individuals who from time-to-time get themselves in trouble."
