Boston City Councilor Looks To Ban Machetes

BOSTON (WBZ) ― Boston City Councilor Chuck Turner wants to ban machetes in Boston, according to a newspaper report.

Turner tells the Boston Herald there's no reason why anyone should be carrying a machete within the city.

The proposal comes after a series of attacks involving the long blades.

According to the Herald, there have been seven machete attacks in Boston, Lynn, Springfield and Chicopee.

The law right now prohibits anyone from carrying knives with blades over two inches in the city. Turner's ordinance would simply add machetes to that list.
