Marathoner Accused Of Choking Wife After Race

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. (WBZ) ― A man who came from South Korea to run the Boston Marathon has been accused of trying to kill his wife hours after completing the race.

Police said they arrested Kim Yong Sik, 43, late Monday night after being called to the parking lot of the Sheraton Hotel in Framingham.

Hotel security told police that Sik tried to choke the woman by stepping on her throat, then later kicked the victim while she was on the ground.

Lt. Paul Shastany told the MetroWest Daily News Sik told investigators through a translator that he had come to Boston with a tour group to run in the Boston Marathon. He finished the 26.2 mile course in 5:28:20, according to the BAA web site.

Bail for Sik was set at $10,000 following his arraignment Tuesday on charges of attempted murder and domestic assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

He is due back in court June 12.
