Sick Passengers Divert Boston Plane To Chicago

BOSTON (WBZ) ― A plane heading to Los Angeles from Logan International Airport was diverted to O'Hare International Airport Wednesday night after one or more passengers fell ill.

United Airlines flight 167 landed at O'Hare about 8:30 p.m. after reports of one or more passengers sick on the plane, city Dept. of Aviation spokeswoman Karen Pride said.

Fire Department spokesman Richard Rosado says paramedics evaluated twelve to fourteen people. Four were taken in fair condition to a hospital.

Rosado didn't immediately know what made the passengers sick. But he says at least some fell ill after smelling vomit on the plane.

United spokesman Jeff Kovick says the captain made the right decision to land in Chicago. He says 138 people were on board.
