Dozens of people were arrested in Boston Saturday night during a sweep of the city, according to police.
Officials nabbed 67 people in a 24-hour period on gun and gang charges.
The sweep comes after a bloody week in the city. Four people were shot to death in Boston over the past seven days.
Police Commissioner Ed Davis said the arrests were intended to send a clear message that gun violence will not be tolerated in the city.
Police focused on known and active gang members during this sweep. Boston and state police, as well as federal law enforcement agencies took part in the arrests.
Boston has seen a very violent start to the New Year. So far, eight murders have been reported the first 20 days of January. That number is four times the amount of murders this time last year.
