Report: Boston Skyscraper Plans Stalled

BOSTON (AP) ― Boston Mayor Thomas Menino says plans to build the city's tallest building are stalled because of concerns raised by the Federal Aviation Administration over the height of the tower.

The Boston Globe reports the federal agency is trying to determine how tall the building can be without obstructing the flight paths of aircraft flying in and out of Logan International Airport.

Businessman Steve Belkin first proposed the 75-story, 1,000-foot skyscraper in the city's Financial District in 2006, after Menino called for private development proposals to replace an aging parking garage.

Belkin's development firm, Trans National Properties, says it is working to address the FAA's concerns, but is continuing with plans to build the tower, designed by renowned Italian architect Renzo Piano.
