When many people talk about commuting into Boston, cringing, swearing off I-93 and serious congestion often come up in the conversation.
But according to
Forbes Magazine, Boston traffic is not all that bad compared to other cities, that is. In fact, Beantown did not even make the magazine's list of the top 10 worst cities for commuters.
Atlanta, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Washington D.C. and Houston, Texas were some of the worst commuting cities.
So what was Forbes' reasoning for keeping Boston off the list? The magazine says jobs in Boston are mainly in and around the center of the city, compared to places like Los Angeles where officers are more spread out.
According to the magazine, because Boston jobs are close together, the city's commuter rail and "T" services are able to drop workers off close to their jobs better than the same system could do for people in Los Angeles.
Forbes said systems like the MBTA take cars off the road, which results in fewer delays, shorter travel times and a more predictable commute.
