Fake Cop Tries To Abduct Teen On The Cape
BOURNE, Mass. (WBZ) ―
Bourne police are looking for a man who posed as a police officer, pulled a teenager over on Route 28A and tried to kidnap her.
Investigators say the unidentified 17-year-old is from Falmouth and is a student at Bishop Stang High School in North Dartmouth.
She was driving on Route 28A March 31 when an unmarked car pulled up behind her with red and blue lights on its dashboard.
A white man wearing what appeared to be an officer's uniform and a trooper-like hat told the teen she failed to stop at a red light and asked for her license and registration.
He walked back to his car. According to the police report, he then offered the woman a way out of the ticket.
"If you give me a kiss and come with me for a little ride, I won't give you a ticket," he told her.
Police say the girl said she would take the ticket, but the man kept trying to persuade her to get out of the car. She tried to grab her license from him and police say the man twisted her arm and told her he couldn't understand why she wouldn't accept his offer.
According to police, he told her she would get a ticket in the mail. He then ordered her to drive away.
The girl didn't call police for two days. Police released a sketch of the suspect Thursday night.
Police say he's white, in his mid-30's, about 6 feet tall, weighing between 175 and 200 pounds, with broad shoulders, a long pointed nose and short brown hair. He was also wearing sunglasses.
Investigators say they waited to release details about the incident for fear of the girl's safety.
If you're approached by an unmarked car and you're not certain it's an officer, police recommend you drive on to a public place before you stop and then notify police.
