3 BC Hockey Players Involved In Green Line Crash

BRIGHTON (WBZ) ― Eight teens, including three Boston College hockey players, are expected to face underage drinking charges after crashing into a Green Line train around midnight Sunday.

The trolley operator reported the teens were trying to make a U-turn in front of the Green Line trolley just as it was approaching on Commonwealth Ave. near the Boston College stop. Unable to break in time, the train and the car collided.

After the crash, four teens ran from the accident scene.

The trolley driver told police the teens who fled were carrying what looked like alcohol containers. They were located at area hospitals a short time later.

According to the police report, officers found both open and unopened beer cans inside the SUV while investigating the accident. An unopened bottle of vodka was also found by police.

Boston College hockey goalie Parker Milner, 19, was one of the teens who allegedly fled the scene. Nineteen-year-old defenseman Patrick Wey and 18-year-old defenseman Philip Samuelsson were also in the car, but did not leave the scene.

In all, seven of the teens in the vehicle received treatment for non-life threatening injuries at area hospitals. No one on the train was hurt.

The college said there has not been disciplinary action taken against the students.

Officials at the school released a statement regarding the incident: "There was an incident early Sunday morning in which an MBTA trolley struck a vehicle containing several Boston College students, some of whom were student-athletes.

"Boston College has received a copy of the MBTA police report, which indicates the driver of the vehicle was not drinking at the time of the accident. No arrests were made and no charges have been filed.

"Boston College officials are cooperating with MBTA authorities in the investigation.

"As this is an active investigation, it would be inappropriate for Boston College to comment further at this time."

Authorities also said the driver, 19-year-old Jane Stanton, told police she was not drinking. The officer who interviewed Stanton said alcohol was not detected on her breath and she appeared alert.

MBTA officials said they plan to charge all eight teens with underage possession of alcohol.
