Brockton's Memorial Day Parade Is Back On
BROCKTON (AP) ―
Brockton will have a Memorial Day Parade, after all.
The city's Veterans Council has
reversed its decision to cancel the parade because of a lack of funding and will instead hold a smaller version of the parade along the traditional route.
Secretary to the council Susan Curry told the Brockton Enterprise Thursday that residents obviously wanted the parade to go on. A number of veterans expressed anger after the cancellation announcement, including 86-year-old World War II veteran Louis Tarantino, who said he had attended every parade since 1945.
The parade will begin at 10 a.m. Monday at the War Memorial building. Police officers, firefighters and the Brockton High School Band will be among those marching.
