Search For Missing Teen Continues 19 Years Later
By Reporter Jim Smith
BOSTON (WBZ) ―
Nineteen years after 16-year-old Jennifer Fay disappeared, her mother is still retracing her steps and is convinced someone knows something about what happened to her.
Fay vanished during a night out with friends in Brockton on Nov. 14, 1989.
"What's it been like for you all these years? What's going through your mind right now?" WBZ's Jim Smith asked Fay's mother, Dorothy Maclean.
"Where my daughter is. I'm wondering where she is and what happened to her," Maclean said.
With every painful step, Maclean thinks of her daughter, the teenage girl she lost so long ago.
Friday marked the 19 year anniversary of Fay's disappearance, and friends and family held a candlelight vigil, hoping to keep the flame of her memory alive.
Fay was out with some friends that night and never made it home. Police released a photo of what she might look like today, but the family fears she was murdered that night.
"I have a gut feeling that somebody did something to her," Maclean said.
Over the years police and
private investigators have had several leads but nothing so far. Still, Fay's mother believes that somebody out there knows something.
"I'll be out here until we find her and bring her home," she said.
Fay's family is still working with private investigators. They continue to try and reach out to anybody who may have been with that night 19 years ago. if you can help, they ask you to please call Brockton police.
Fay's picture is on the
National website for Missing and Exploited Children, along with an enhanced version to show what she would look like now.
