Vandals Torch Brockton Playground
BROCKTON (AP) ―
Vandals have torched a playground at a Brockton elementary school just before the start of the school year.
Fire Lt. Edward Williams says the playground at the
Ashfield School was destroyed in the fire early Wednesday morning. He estimates the blaze caused about $10,000 in damage.
The good news is that the suspects were caught on video surveillance and investigators are working to identify the arsonists.
Williams says a flammable liquid was likely used to start the blaze after the equipment was vandalized, but authorities have not yet identified the liquid.
Williams says it was the only playground in the neighborhood.
