A fiery crash Wednesday night forced all lanes of Interstate 93 in the area of Southampton Street in Boston to be shut down for a time.
Traffic was brought to a complete halt for about 15 minutes while fire crews worked to put out a camper that had exploded on the roadway. State police officials said the driver of the camper told first responders that there was ammunition in the vehicle, which may have fueled the blaze.
It's unclear what caused the camper to catch fire in the first place, but State police said no one was hurt.
Southbound lanes were opened shortly after the fire was put out, and one northbound lane opened once the wreckage was moved to the side of the road. However, northbound traffic continued to crawl for a time.
Crews were working to reopen the remaining northbound lanes Wednesday night.
