What Was That Smell On The Cape?

BOSTON (WBZ) ― If you were on the Cape Tuesday night and thought you smelled something burning, you weren't alone.

According to the Cape Cod Times, hundreds of people said they smelled fire, burning rubber, burning electrical outlets and burning car brakes from Orleans to Bourne.

But nothing was on fire.

According to the National Weather Service, it was thermal inversion.

The warm temperatures can cause smog, smoke or other pollutants to stay trapped close to the ground.

It could have even been smoke from brush fires way down in North Carolina getting caught on the Cape.
