The entire town of Braintree was without power for a time Saturday evening because of the storm, fire officials said.
National Grid officials were working to restore power and hoped to do so by Saturday night.
THOUSANDS WITHOUT POWER ON CAPE
Some 12,000 NStar customers on the Cape lost power Friday night because of the snowstorm that
dumped heavy, wet snow in the area. By Saturday morning that number dropped to about 4,500 along the Cape and South Shore.
As many as 30,000 customers statewide lost power from Friday's storm, most of which had been restored by Saturday.
STORM SLOWS PROGRESS IN N.H.
Meanwhile, the storm slowed down progress in restoring power to about 10,000 customers in Massachusetts from an
ice storm last week. Peter Judge, a spokesman for the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency, said that number had dropped to about 4,300 by Friday evening.
At the peak of that storm, about 350,000 customers were without power in Massachusetts. In New Hampshire, about 26,000 people were still in the dark.
About 200 people remained in a dozen emergency shelters open around the Massachusetts Friday.
More snow was in the forecast for Sunday.
