Teen Allegedly Drives Onto School Sports Field

CARVER (WBZ) ― A Carver teen is accused of driving a car onto a sports field, putting several lives in danger.

George Cowen, 17, allegedly drove onto the Carver High School field Tuesday evening. Witnesses told police there were about 600 people on the field at the time of the incident. Some were almost hit and others ran, fearing for their lives.

A short time later, police say they tried to pull Cowen over on Pond Street, but he would not stop. According to police, Cowen kept on driving – passing vehicles and driving toward oncoming traffic.

Police were eventually able to pull Cowen over and take him into custody.

A 16-inch knife belonging to Cowen was found in the car, police said.

Cowen is not a student at Carver High School.
