Poll: Some Would Give Up Sex Before Cell Phone
BOSTON (WBZ) ―
A recent survey shows that 31 percent of Bostonians polled would give up sex for a year before they would give up their cell phones for the same amount of time.
The survey, conducted by Kelton Research and commissioned by Samsung Mobile, sought out 300 cell phone users in the Boston area.
According to their research, 38 percent of women were more willing to give up sex before they gave up their cell phones. Only 19 percent of men said they were willing to lose their libidos instead of their mobile phones.
TEXTING IN THE HUB
According to the survey, 81 percent of Boston cell phone users text message regularly. In fact, 37 percent of Boston residents polled rely on texting to communicate instead of having an actual phone conversation.
One of the main reasons given for the text over talk preference is the ability to save sentimental text messages in their phone's inbox. Fifty-six percent of Boston women were more to keep a sentimental message on their cell phones, compared to 30 percent of men.
HOURS ON THE CELL
According to the study, Bostonians spend three hours a day on the cell phones texting, sending and receiving picture and video messages, along with other non-voice features.
The Boston residents polled said they spend 20 percent of their day on the phone.
