Rivers' Gatorade-Stained Shirt Sells For $35,000

BOSTON (WBZ) ― An unknown bidder from out-of-state bid $35,000 Tuesday to win an auction of Doc Rivers' Gatorade-stained shirt from Game 6 of the NBA Finals.

WEEI-AM put it up for auction with the Celtics to benefit the team's Shamrock Foundation, which helps Boston-area children.

Celtics forward Paul Pierce dumped Gatorade over head coach Doc Rivers late in Game 6 as the Celtics were on the verge of clinching the NBA title last week.

The anonymous bidder will get the shirt, signed by Rivers and Pierce, and the Gatorade bucket.

Celtics managing partner Steve Pagliuca has offered to match the $35,000 if the bidder will let the team display the shirt. Gatorade has offered an additional $10,000 on top of that.

During the auction, former New England Patriots coach Bill Parcells put in a bid of $20,000.
