Police on Cape Cod are searching for the culprits responsible for toppling more than 40 tombstones, some of which date back to the 1800s.
The vandals targeted the Oak Grove and Oak Neck cemeteries in Hyannis and left behind a mess of destruction after they knocked over entire rows of grave stones.
Investigators said many of the tombstones were damaged beyond repair.
No evidence was left behind, and police said there doesn't appear to be any connection among the grave markers that were knocked over, such as common ethnicity, the Cape Cod Times reported.
Anyone with information about the cemetery vandalism is urged to contact Barnstable police at 508-771-6237.
