Car Nearly Lands In Charles River After Crash

The accident happened right before the North Harvard Street exit on Storrow Drive around 8:45 a.m

Fire, police and emergency crews rushed to the banks of the Charles River in Boston Saturday morning to pull a man out of his car that was inches away from falling into the water.
The accident happened right before the North Harvard Street exit on Storrow Drive around 8:45 a.m.
State police say the driver, who has not been identified, somehow lost control of his Jeep, drove off the roadway, across the grass and somehow flipped over – landing only inches away from the water.
Firefighters had to smash the front windshield so they could pull the driver out of the car and onto a stretcher.
As crews were trying to save the driver, two firefighters were putting wedges and rocks underneath the car to prevent it from rolling over and landing in the Charles River.
The driver was taken to an area hospital, where he is being treated for minor injuries.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
