Bitter Cold Now, Snow On Sunday

BOSTON (WBZ) ― Welcome to one of the coldest days in years across southern New England. If that's not enough for you, we could get half-a-foot of snow on Sunday.

Don't worry, there are just 63 days until spring.

SUB-ZERO TEMPERATURES 

For now, it's simply brutal outside.

The low temperarure in Boston this morning was 6 degrees and has since moved to 15.

It was -11 in Norwood, -1 in Worcester, -3 in Taunton, and -20 in Orange.

In northern New Hampshire, it was -30 in Berlin.

BOSTON RECORDS

Friday had the potential to be the coldest overall day since January 7, 2007, when the high was 13 and the low was 3.

Boston has not gone below zero since January 22, 2005, when the low was -2. 
 
Saturday won't be much better.  It's expected to be zero in the morning.  The high for the day will be 18.

NEW SNOW STORM

Temperatures will slowly creep up Sunday with a high of 28. 

There could also be several inches of new snow. 

WBZ meteorologist Barry Burbank says most of southern New England could get three-to-six inches.

The snow should start light Sunday morning and intensify later in the day.

There might also be a second storm on Monday.

The snow won't melt anytime soon.

We won't get above the 32 degree freezing mark until next Friday.
