Police Officer Hit By Car At Marshfield Fair

Officer Mel Dyer was directing traffic at the intersection of Main and South River streets when witnesses say a car hit the officer after failing to stop.

A Duxbury police officer is in critical condition after he was hit while working a detail at the Marshfield Fair Saturday night.
Officer Mel Dyer was directing traffic at the intersection of Main and South River streets when witnesses say a car hit the officer after failing to stop.
Dyer was found unconscious and rushed to Brigham & Women's Hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
So far, the driver has not been charged.
Officer Dyer is a part-time police officer for the Town of Duxbury, as well as a former Deputy Sheriff for the Plymouth County Sheriff's office.
Police are still investigating the incident. Anyone who witnessed the accident is asked to call Marshfield police at 781.834.6655.
