Officer Charged With Attacking Women In Court

DERRY, N.H. (WBZ) ― A former court bailiff is under arrest, charged with sexually assaulting women in the New Hampshire courthouse where he worked.

Paul Benoit, 55, of Pelham recently resigned from his job with the Derry District Court.

Police say they arrested him after two women came forward to say Benoit assaulted them.

One woman said she was at the court on October 16th, when Benoit led her into a conference room and allegedly touched her inappropriately.

Another woman filed a report describing a similar incident with Benoit on October 8th.

Police say there may be other victims out there.

According to the Union Leader, Benoit had worked at the court since February 2008.

Benoit is charged with five counts of sexual assault.

He was released on $5,000 bail.

He's scheduled for arraignment in Derry District Court December 1.
