An East Bridgewater deputy fire chief died Wednesday morning in a home accident.

The fire department said Deputy Fire Chief Robert D. Fairburn's death was sudden and tragic.

Officials say the cause of his death was accidental though details about what happened are unknown.

Fairburn was a 30-year veteran of the fire department.
