State Police Investigate DiMasi Death Threat

BOSTON (WBZ) ― State police are investigating a threat that was directed at House Speaker Sal DiMasi.

It is unclear what type of threat the speaker received, but police are investigating.

The Boston Globe reports state police have been spotted standing guard at DiMasi's North End home as a result of the threat.

The paper reports DiMasi received an anonymous letter at the State House that threatened his life several weeks before the House vote on casinos. Sources also tell the paper a threat against DiMasi was overheard in a conversation a few days after the casino vote.

Although it is not clear what was heard in the alleged conversation, the Globe reports specific details about DiMasi's life were mentioned.

DiMasi has been very vocal about his opposition to building a casino in Massachusetts.
