Phaedrus is going to be OK after getting the shock of her life outside the Quincy Post Office.

A family pet was nearly electrocuted in front of the Quincy Post Office Wednesday while being walked by her owners.
The source of the severe shock was a light fixture. While the shepherd mix is now doing OK, her family says the results could have been much worse.
The dog, named Phaedrus, was shocked when she approached the bottom of a flag pole.
"I turned around and the dog was in the air jumping," said the dog's owner, Aiden Langille. "She stepped on a light and we said she probably got electrocuted. She had her tail between her legs."
Phaedrus came in contact with a light fixture at the bottom of a flag pole, which apparently was carrying a live current.
Phaedrus was able to walk home with her family after being shocked, and a veterinarian said she should be OK.
"She seems OK. She's been tired and has been lying around the house. She's had a few accidents in the house, so we're keeping a close eye on her," said Maureen Langille.
The Post Office called a maintenance crew to fix the problem.
Boston was plagued by a series of dog electrocutions a few years back. They were caused by stray voltage from live wires.
The city eventually installed plastic plates that do not carry electricity in 20,000 electric boxes across the city.
