Cigarette Blamed For Dorchester Triple Decker Fire

The fire department says the fire started by the third floor front porch.

The cause was a discarded cigarette.

A lit cigarette thrown away improperly ended up burning part of a triple-decker home in Dorchester Saturday morning.
The Boston Fire Department tweeted that someone tossed the cigarette by the top floor porch of a home on Althea Street around 7:45 a.m.

It caught fire and spread inside the home.
13 people 6 of them children were inside the building at the time. All escaped safely.
Damaged is estimated at $150,000.
