A young woman is in critical condition Saturday after being hit by an alleged drunken teen driver in Back Bay.
The 21-year-old woman was hit while she walking on Commonwealth Avenue between Fairfield and Exeter around 2:30 a.m. Saturday.
She suffered a laceration to her head and was rushed to Massachusetts General Hospital where she is listed in critical condition.
The 17-year-old driver, Robert McGrath of Brookline, was arrested for operating without a license. Police said he had been driving with a junior operating permit, which had expired for the night.
While at the police station, officers said they noticed the odor of alcohol from McGrath and that he had slurred speech.
McGrath then failed a field sobriety test, police said. He was arrested for operating under the influence of alcohol causing serious bodily injury.
The front right portion of the McGrath's vehicle was damaged along with the windshield and hood.
