A New Bedford man has been charged with robbing a bank in East Bridgewater earlier this week and
causing a bomb scare.
32-year-old Jason Yeshulas was arrested in his George Street apartment late Wednesday night.
Investigators say they found him trying to hide in a bedroom closet. Officers also found "a significant sum of money" and items worn by the robber, who was photographed by a surveillance camera.
Police say Yeshulas walked into the East Bridgewater Savings Bank on Tuesday, robbed it, and then left a suspicious white shopping bag on the teller's counter and said it was a bomb.
Officers evacuated the bank and the State Police bomb squad was called in.
The bag was empty and no one was hurt.
Police say Yeshulas got away with $8,500.
He's charged with armed robbery, making a false bomb threat, and possession or placement of a hoax device.
He was arraigned Thursday in Brockton District Court on those charges and other outstanding warrants.
Yeshulas is being held on $250,000 bail. He's due back in court November 23.
