Easton Hit-And-Run Suspect In Custody

EASTON (WBZ) ― A Stoughton man is in police custody and is being held connection to a deadly hit-and-run in Easton over the weekend.

Michael Faria, 32, is being questioned in the death of 58-year-old Vietnam vet John McCarthy, who was hit and killed while walking on Washington Street early Saturday morning.

According to police, Faria had been at a party and was driving home when he allegedly hit McCarthy. McCarthy was taken to Good Samaritan Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Police said Faria allegedly told someone about the hit-and-run after the fact. That person told their parents who then anonymously called police. Police called Faria who eventually talked with officers.
