There is a controversy brewing at one local college and it has Red Sox fans facing off with the college president.
Endicott College will soon honor the New York Yankees on campus for their World Series Win.
Yes, that's right, a Massachusetts College will honor the Bronx bombers and that's not sitting well with students.
"It doesn't make any sense. It's ridiculous," said student Dan Sullivan.
The college is painting a fire hydrant with pinstripes and a NY in a small school celebration.
The school's president, Dick Wylie, says it is important for students to learn tolerance.
Wylie thinks its all in fun and tells us.
They need to get on with it, that's life," said Wylie.
And he's not backing down. Saying the lesson of tolerance is more important than team. And he says some students are from New York and should be able to celebrate.
But local fans disagree.
"We thought it was a prank, a school this close to Boston with this many Red sox fans you wouldn't think they would support the Yankees. A lot of students are really upset about this," said student Marc Spinella.
They will go on and paint the hydrant in full pinstripes on Monday.
