Entwistle Jury Sees Pix, Forensics, Web Business

Investigators Says Mother, Baby Shot At Close Range

View: Major Players In Entwistle Trial

WOBURN (WBZ) ― Jurors in the Neil Entwistle murder trial quietly, and without visible emotion, looked at crime scene photographs Friday morning.  They also heard testimony from an investigator, saying the gun had been fired at close range.

The 7 photos showed the bed and bedding in which Rachel and Lillian Entwistle were found shot to death, and the bodies themselves.

As the jurors looked at the photos, which were not shown on courtroom monitors, members of Rachel Entwistle's family huddled together.

The photos were shown a day after Neil Entwistle broke down as he, his defense team and the jury watched video of the crime scene.

Jurors also heard testimony from a forensic chemist who testified that the gun was fired at least once within a foot and half of the victims.

Deanna Dygan told the jury that a certain type of gun residue was found on a pillow case underneath both Rachel and Lillian. Dyan explained that the type of residue is only present within 18 inches of the mussel of the gun, indicating that the gun must have been shot at least once from that range.

Prosecutors have previously said that Rachel Entwistle's DNA was found on and in the muzzle of the .22-caliber revolver used in the killings.

Forensics specialist John Soares, a civilian investigator who works for the Massachusetts State Police, described the contents of the Entwistles' white BMW X3, found in a garage at Logan International Airport.

They included a baby seat, a Dasani water bottle, a Dunkin' Donuts cup, and the car keys.

He testified the keys were tested for gunshot residue, as were Rachel Entwistle's hands and Lillian Entwistle's pajamas.

He also told the jury Rachel Entwistle's right arm was extended across her daughter's body, with her index finger pointed and fist closed.

Soares faced intense cross examination by defense attorney Elliot Weinstein, acknowledging he and other investigators did not use chemical or light-based methods to test for blood at or around the crime scene that wasn't visible to the naked eye. Weinstein suggested crime scene investigators weren't as thorough as they could have been.

eBay fraud investigator Jeremy Roybal was the next witness to take the stand. He testified there were 4 different PayPal accounts under Neil Entwistle's name, and 1 under Rachel Entwistle's name. Paypal is an internet money transmission service, often used by buyers and seller on eBay.
