Everett police are looking for help identifying a man who was hit by a police cruiser while riding his bike Tuesday night, leaving him in critical condition.
Investigators say an officer was responding to a 911 call in his cruiser when he hit the man at Ferry and Glendale streets.
Witnesses told WBZ the bicyclist was riding fast into the intersection before he was hit.
"I saw the officer put his lights on," said witness Genrri Rosario. "Then I saw the bike flying down the hill. It never stopped."
The officer helped the biker immediately after the man flew over the cruiser.
"That poor cop was holding his pulse and saying, 'You're going to make it, man,' and he just kept holding his pulse and he was crying," said witness Allie Cromwell. "The cop was hurt and he was shook up."
Police say the man is Hispanic and about 25 years old. He was riding a newer model blue and white Schwinn bike.
Anyone with information is asked to call Everett Police at 617-394-2356.
The officer's name is not being released. He has been placed on paid administrative leave until the investigation is complete. Police say the 911 call was an unrelated incident.
