Suspicious Device Prompts Evacuations In Brewster

BREWSTER (WBZ) ― Several homes in Brewster were evacuated Tuesday afternoon when a homeowner found a suspicious device in a basement.

The FBI and the State police Bomb Squad were called into the neighborhood on Colonial Way to investigate after the homeowner called local police.

The homeowner told police the device looked like an explosive. Several homes were evacuated as a precaution.

As of Tuesday night, no one had been injured and nothing had been detonated by the bomb squad. Brewster police said the homeowner had been a resident at the house for quite some time.

It's unknown when neighbors will be allowed to return home.
