Mayor Makes Filene's Basement Clean Up
BOSTON (WBZ) ―
In an effort to clean up Downtown Crossing in Boston, the city is making Filene's Basement close a gaping hole left behind from early construction on the clothing store.
Filene's Basement has been undergoing renovations, but the credit crunch forced developers to stop construction last November, leaving behind a gaping hole and a shell of a building in the middle of downtown.
After Boston Mayor Thomas Menino fired off an angry letter to the developers, they agreed to seal the roof and cover the side of the open building until the project can start up again.
