Boston Man Killed In Fitchburg Shooting
FITCHBURG (WBZ) ―
A Boston man was killed and a second victim was critically injured in a shooting in Fitchburg Thursday night.
According to Worcester District Attorney Joseph Early Jr., the shots were fired while fireworks were exploding shortly before 11 p.m. in a crowded neighborhood.
Nelson Ortega, 32, was shot in the head and pronounced dead at Leominster Hospital, officials said. The second victim, Ryan O'Neill, 19, was shot in the back and is listed in critical condition at the same hospital.
Both men, officials said, live in Boston.
The D.A.'s office and Fitchburg police are investigating the incident.
