Nearly 200 people showed up at the Foxy Lady strip club in Providence, Rhode Island on Saturday for a job fair.
Hoping to take advantage of the state's floundering economy, the nightclub held the job fair in hopes of finding 25 to 30 people to fill some of their open positions, including managers, waitresses and exotic dancers, at that club and two others in Massachusetts.
"I've been laid off since October of 2008, so I'm just trying to find something to make ends meet. Unemployment's getting ready to run out
Things are bad," said one job applicant.
Co-owner Tom Tsoumas says people are desperate for work, especially in Rhode Island, where the unemployment rate stood at 10.3 percent in January.
He hopes that some who would have shunned strip clubs in a strong economy might now consider shedding their clothes -- or at least working as a waitress or bartender.
Perhaps, not ironically, most of those who showed up were men.
