Company Offers Free Dry Cleaning For Unemployed
BOSTON (WBZ) ―
A Quincy-based cleaning company is offering free dry cleaning for anyone who needs fresh suits for interviews.
Dependable Cleaners said if you can prove that you are unemployed, they will give you a certificate for three free suit cleanings. The offer begins on April 9.
"We wanted to do something to help our neighbors and customers who are struggling through these difficult times, "said Christa Hagearty, President of Dependable Cleaners. "It is our hope that this may relieve some of the stress for job seekers."
A maximum of 2,000 certificates will be handed out.
There are several deals out there for people who have lost their jobs.
Already-struggling car dealerships, for example, have begun offering rescue packages for the unemployed.
Just last month, Ford and GM announced a
payment protection plan for car buyers who have had been laid off.
Ford said they would cover payments of up to $700 each month for up to a year on any new Ford, Lincoln or Mercury if the buyer lost their job.
GM said they would make up to nine car payments of $500 each for customers who lost their jobs through no fault of their own.
In January, Hyundai said they would let drivers return their car within a year if they couldn't make payments because they lost their job.
Restaurants are also offering
coupon deals to make dining out more affordable.
As the economy continues to struggle, the state's unemployment rate continues to rise. The latest numbers show that Massachusetts' unemployment rate rose to 7.8 percent in February a 0.4 percent increase from January.
Nationally, the unemployment rate rose to its highest level in 25 years 8.1 percent.
