Giants Super Bowl Rings Stolen In Attleboro Heist

ATTLEBORO (WBZ) ― Police say New York Giants Super Bowl rings were among the $2 million worth of items stolen from an Attleboro jewelry company sometime over the weekend.

Thieves disabled the alarm system at E.A. Dion's building on Franklin McKay Drive, cut a hole in the roof and made off with a safe that weighed at least 1,000 pounds. It held the rings, gold, and gems.

The incident was discovered by an employee on Sunday when she was unable to access her work e-mail from home, apparently because the phone lines had been cut.

The Super Bowl rings, which were manufactured by the company, were to be given to the Giants staff to commemorate New York's 17-14 win over the New England Patriots in February, team spokesman Pat Hanlon said.

The white gold rings -- which were designed by Tiffany and Co. and valued at $25,000 -- were exactly the same as the ones players and coaches received last month.

The team's "NY" logo is set in round diamonds, while "World Champions" is emblazoned in raised letters on the top and bottom bezel, with channel-set diamonds on the left and right bezel. The rings also feature the team's three Super Bowl trophies.

The company does not discuss specific customer's orders, President Edward Dion Jr. said.

"We've talked to our major customers and let them know what happened, and I am confident we'll be able to fulfill our orders," he said.

The family-owned company, which has been in business for 40 years, was back up running at full speed and re-evaluating security, Dion said.

There are no suspects. It's considered the biggest heist in Attleboro's history.

Anyone with information is asked to call Attleboro police at 508.222.1269.
