Police think they have recovered a 1,500-pound safe
stolen from an Attleboro jewelry maker last summer.
Police say the safe, which contained New York Giants Super Bowl rings as well as precious metals and gems, was found Thursday cut into eight pieces and buried beneath eight feet of soil in the back yard of a Hubbardston home.
Attleboro Detective James Cote tells
The Sun Chronicle of Attleboro the safe was buried so deep that police had to use an excavator.
Police located the safe with information developed in the continuing investigation into the $2 million heist from E.A. Dion Inc. in June.
Police have already recovered the contents of the safe and arrested four suspects, including the alleged mastermind of the scheme, Sean D. Murphy of Lynn.
