The Franklin Park Zoo has a new addition to its giraffe clan.
A female giraffe named Jana gave birth Saturday to a healthy baby male giraffe, who came in at 164 pounds and 6 feet 4 inches tall.
The baby dropped 6 feet to the ground from his mother, who gave birth standing up, zoo officials said.
The baby is the third miracle baby born to its parents, Jana and Beau.
Beau is considered the most valuable Masai giraffe in North America because he is the longest living giraffe in the world having been diagnosed with the incurable Giraffe Wasting Syndrome (GWS).
Beau was diagnosed with GWS in October 2003 and was brought back from the brink of death.
The zoo will be holding a naming contest for the new baby giraffe.
He joins his two sisters, Autumn and Sox, who was named after the 2007 World Series Champion Boston Red Sox. Sox will celebrate her second birthday in October.
