A middle school student was hit by a car on her way to school in Danvers Monday morning.
Police say the girl was in a crosswalk on Centre Street when she was struck by a Volvo just before 7 a.m.
The driver, Thomas Bussone, of Boston, stopped. The girl was rushed to the hospital with a serious leg injury, but it is not life-threatening, Sgt. Robert Bettencourt told WBZ.
Bettencourt said Bussone was cited for failing to yield to a pedestrian at a crosswalk and for failure to use care in stopping.
The name of the student has not been released.
She attends the
Holten Richmond Middle School, according to the
Boston Globe.
