A 6-year-old girl was hurt in a Fourth of July parade on the Cape Friday morning.
Police tell WBZ the little girl, who has not been identified, was riding in a parade in Orleans when she got hurt.
Officials said the child had gotten off the float she was riding on and was trying to get back on when she fell and became pinned underneath the trailer's tires. "Everything sort of stopped," explained Dawn Woodcock. "And then there was a woman who came down and said there was a little leg injury."
The driver stopped and had to back up off the little girl's leg. "Everyone started screaming, and then my dad
he's a doctor, he came back and said she was going to be fine. Nothing life threatening and that she just had abrasion marks on her leg," said Jessica Dent.
The Orleans Fire Department told WBZ the girl's injuries are not life-threatening. The child was rushed to Cape Cod Hospital, where she is being treated for a possible leg fracture.
It is unclear why the little girl had gotten off the float in the first place.
