Gov. Patrick Has New Chief Of Staff
Doug Rubin Leaving To Join Patrick's Re-Election Team
BOSTON (WBZ) ―
Gov. Deval Patrick has a new Chief of Staff. Patrick announced Thursday that Arthur Bernard will replace Doug Rubin, who is leaving the State House to work on the Governor's re-election campaign.
Rubin told the Associated Press "it's the right time" after Patrick secured approval of key transportation, ethics, pension and budget initiatives.
Rubin is returning to the political consulting practice he left behind when he joined Patrick's State House staff in 2007. In that role Rubin served as chief strategist for Patrick's 2006 campaign. He will play a similar role in Patrick's 2010 re-election bid.
Arthur Bernard, who will step in as Chief of Staff, has been a senior advisor to the governor.
