Green Line Service Disrupted By Power Line Problem

BOSTON (WBZ) ― A wire problem forced the MBTA to divert Green Line service away from North Station late Thursday morning.

A section of overhead wire came down on the westbound platform and started to smoke as a train entered the station just before 11 a.m.

No one was hurt. The wire provides electricity to run the Green Line trains.

All service between Government Center and Lechmere was switched to a shuttle bus.

The Orange Line remained open at North Station.

The MBTA has updated service alerts on its Web site.
